I love the spring. The last day of March, however, brings the reality that Major League Baseball spring training is ending and the hot Arizona summer will soon be upon us.Spring is also a time where at GradGuard we are refreshing our work to improve the experience for our customers. In particular, our campus relations team led by Steve Fucci along with Wimer Alberto and Julia Downs have worked closely with our engineering and design teams to make sure that we deliver on our promises to conveniently enroll students in our GradGuard renters insurance programs.
Thanks to their good work and the willingness of schools to address the risks to students, more college students than ever will have the opportunity to choose GradGuard's renters insurance as they make their student housing plans and choose their residence halls. As just one example of the 2017 improvements, this brief presentation illustrates the unique value of GradGuard's renters insurance.
I applaud student housing leaders and university risk managers and who have embraced our approach to make renters insurance another valuable ammenity of living on campus. The results speak for themselves as these same schools see high levels of student participation and protection because they have made it convenient for students to eletronically enroll in the GradGuard renters insurance program.
These university officials understand the value of adopting a preferred renters insurance programs as a relevant student benefit for their residents. They know that the data does not lie and that risks are real. In fact, across the nation the 2014 Clery Act reported 18,653 burglaries and 3,296 fires. As a result, schools offer GradGuard's exclusive college renters insurance program to provide protection for their residents as well as to their institution.
