Wimer Alberto received the award for his dedication, partnership, and contributions to the Western Association of College and University Housing Officers.

PHOENIX (April 12, 2022): The Western Association of College and University Housing Officers (WACUHO) announced that Wimer Alberto, Senior Director of Campus Partnerships at GradGuard, was named the winner of the R.W. Gang Award.

The award was presented on April 5th during a luncheon at WACE, the association’s annual conference that was held in Rancho Mirage, California.

According to WACUHO’s website, R.W. Gang Award is named in memory of Mr. R.W. Gang, the 12th President of the WACUHO, whose mission is dedicated to exceptional collegiate residential experiences by promoting meaningful connections and providing innovative, relevant professional development and services. Later in life, R.W. continued his relationship with the organization as a vendor and corporate friend. It is for R.W.'s enthusiasm, humor, love for his colleagues and dedication to Housing that an award is honored in his name. A $250 donation is made every year to the ACUHO-I Foundation of Excellence in honor of the WACUHO R.W. Gang Award winner.

Alberto served seven years in residence life before joining GradGuard in 2017. Since then, he has played an integral role in developing campus partnerships with student housing and residence life. He has implemented over 125 schools with GradGuard’s College Renters Protection and managed more than 150 relationships throughout the past five years.

Alberto received three letters of support for the award from higher education professionals at San Francisco State University, the University of San Francisco, and Sacramento State University. His professionalism, dedication, and tireless work were cited in their nominations.

“I have had the pleasure of working very closely with him for the past five years and am fortunate to call him a friend,” said Steve Fucci, Vice President of Campus Development at GradGuard. “I’m confident that the majority of the schools he has worked with during his time at GradGuard will say the same thing about Alberto, because you never feel like you’re at work when you’re talking to him. There is no one more deserving of this award.”

GradGuard has been attending WACE since 2013. The entire GradGuard team is very proud of Alberto and share gratitude for all who nominated him for this award.
